LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a building rating system established by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).  "Green Building" refers to addressing environmental concerns during the design, construction, and operation of buildings, including sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials selection, indoor environmental quality, and user comfort.  The Town's LEED consultant is Stephen Winter Associates; Stephen Winter was chairman of USGBC at the time LEED standards were introduced.

The Town is seeking Silver Certification for this project and has registered the project with the USGBC.

A revised energy modeling report became available in November, 2008.  Based upon the findings of this report, the project as designed should meet and exceed the LEED Silver standards.
