Business Park Archway Sign Installed
January 7, 2004 | Hamden celebrated the installation of a new archway structure at the entrance of the Hamden Business Park. Several Town Officials attended, including Mayor Carl J. Amento, Third District Representative Berita Rowe, members of the Town’s Economic Development Commission and many occupants of the Hamden Business Park.
This project has been planned for a long time and was funded through the Town’s Three-Year Economic Development Plan budget. It will give the Business Park more identity and promotes the companies that have invested in the Town of Hamden.
“We are very pleased that the Town has kept their commitment to those of us that invested in the Town. We believe that the Town is very supportive of Hamden businesses and all of us here in the park,” commented Jack Alpert, President of Instant Buttons.
The project includes an archway structure that will clearly identifies the Park location and kiosk signs that lists the park occupants with their address. This allows the Town to eliminate the sandwich board signs that often dot the entrance to the park. The new entrance will make it easy for visitors to find the park.
The park was developed in the mid 1980’s as a 21 lot commercial sub-division. Currently there are over 30 companies in the park, which is completely sold out.
The proceeds from the sale of the original lots were used to fund the Town’s long-range economic development plan. That plan has been a tremendous success. “The companies that invested in the Hamden Business Park and the Town deserve to be rewarded for their patience through our investment in the commercial areas of Highwood” stated Mayor Carl Amento.
The next project will be an expanded streetscape project in the Highwood Business District slated for bid in the winter and construction in the spring of 2004.
