Town Welcomes Taste of Jamaica Restaurant to 1389 Dixwell Ave
Councilwomen Berita Rowe, Glen and Elizabeth Campbell and Staff and Dale Kroop The Grand Opening of the Taste of Jamaica mobile restaurant at 1389 Dixwell Ave, next to Carl’s Auto Parts, provides Town residents with a unique dinning experience. This mobile eatery provides customers with authentic Jamaican style cuisine, prepared to perfection on portable steel drums and brick ovens. Once there, make sure to try the famous Taste of Jamaica’s Jerk chicken, prepared the traditional Jamaican way. A tradition that involves rubbing a special mix of herbs and spices into the meat and grilling it over several hours, allowing the rub to permeate the meat and retain the natural juices. This distinctive dinning experience is complimented by traditional reggae music and attentive service, provide by owner and head chief, Glen Campbell. Working with the Economic Development Department of Hamden, Glen Campbell and the Taste of Jamaica are hoping to expand their business into a full service restaurant, where they can expand their business, menu, and, the desire for their food. There is a rotating menu depending on the of the week, as well as catering available and deliveries will be accommodated on orders over $20. The Taste of Jamaica can be reached for catering orders at (203) 507-3629 or at www.tojj.net, or you can stop in at lunchtime to place and order and sample their excellent selection of dishes.
