Veterans Commission

Mission Statement

The Veterans Commission shall advise the Mayor and Town Departments regarding the service needs of veterans, public educational programs, and events regarding the history and commemoration of veterans, as well as the preservation of veteran monuments and memorials. The commission also will focus on creating education resources and awareness recognizing the efforts of Hamden veterans throughout the year.

Veterans Office

Hamden’s Veterans Commission is pleased to announce the opening of Hamden’s Veterans Office.

Hamden's Veterans Office is located within the Recreation Department on the main floor of Hamden Government Center, 2750 Dixwell Avenue. A Veterans Commissioner will be available every Wednesday from 5:30pm-7:00pm to act as a resource for Hamden veterans. Please feel free to stop by with any questions or concerns you may have.

Members

The commission shall consist of eleven members, no more than seven members shall be of the same political party. Eight members must be veterans of the armed forces. This 3-year appointment is recommended by the Mayor, and must be approved by the Legislative Council.
