Market Vendor Permits and Certifications

Market Vendor Permitting Requirements:

  1. All Vendors must obtain a Vendor License from the Hamden Police Department:
    • The Hamden Police Department Permitting Office is open Mon-Fri from 10am-2pm
    • Vendors that have not previously vended with the Town of Hamden must complete a State of CT background check with the Hamden Police Department ($88.25)
    • Vendors that have not previously vended with the Town of Hamden must get fingerprinted with the Hamden Police Department ($25)
    • Vendors must fill out and submit a Vendor License Application to the Hamden Police Department ($25/day OR $200/year)

  2. Food Truck Vendors and Food Vendors must schedule an inspection with the Quinnipiack Valley Health District
    • All vendors selling food (desserts, hot food, snacks, pre-packaged items, farm produce) must contact the Quinnipiack Valley Health District
    • Food trucks and stands are subject to health inspection and inspection fee by QVHD
    • Food vendors must fill out and submit the Farmers Market Vendor Information Form to Quinnipiack Valley Health District

  3. Business vendors must submit a copy of their business insurance to the Town Risk Manager with appropriate liabilities incorporated:
    • Vendors must submit a copy of their business insurance to the Town Risk Manager with the appropriate liability coverage incorporated
    • Liability Coverage should include: "You shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless the Town of Hamden, the Hamden Housing Authority, the Hamden Board of Education and Hamden Public Schools, their agents, representatives, and employees, officers, employees, agents and assigns from any and all claims arising from your use and occupancy of the Town Center Park Market.”
    • Liability insurance in accordance with the recommendations of the Connecticut State Department of Agriculture, which are as follows:
      • Farm under 5 acres:      $300,000 general liability (including products) insurance
      • Farm over 5 acres:        $1,000,000 general liability (including products) insurance
      • Other                             $1,000,000 Automobile Liability
