[ARCHIVED] Mayor Leng Launches “Weekly Wednesday” Virtual Town Hall Series

HAMDEN, Conn. – Mayor Leng has announced a new public engagement initiative, coined “Weekly Wednesdays”, which will be a weekly Virtual Town Hall style meeting wherein Mayor Leng will provide updates to the Hamden community by way of live video conference. Mayor Leng will be available to answer questions during these live Virtual Town Hall meetings, however the primary focus will be the dissemination of information to residents.

This initiative has been considered for some time and, in response to Mayor Leng’s impromptu and well received Facebook Live sessions regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, has now come to fruition. Hamden residents are looking for ways to gather direct information about the Coronavirus pandemic, and also about what remains happening in Hamden throughout this public health emergency. Mayor Leng is gracious for the outpouring of support from the Hamden community, and is launching this initiative in an effort to directly engage with as many Hamden residents as possible.

Weekly Wednesdays will occur each Wednesday at 8:00pm on Facebook Live unless otherwise stated. The virtual sessions will be broadcast through Mayor Leng’s and the Town of Hamden Facebook pages. Residents are encouraged to tune in live, or to visit the pages afterwards to watch the posted video archive. The Town is exploring options to expand the reach of these Virtual Town Hall style meetings to encompass other forms of media and social networks.

Commenting, Mayor Leng said, “Now more than ever we need reliable and accurate information – and we need it regularly. I plan to speak live with our residents every week in an effort to ensure this information is received. Please, inform your friends and family that these weekly updates will be occurring, and encourage them to tune in for the most update to date information on not only what’s happening in Hamden, but most importantly right now – what Hamden is doing to combat COVID-19 and what YOU can do to help. Thank you”
