Hamden’s Night of Lights
Sunday, December 18th
Menorah Lighting Celebration
Hamden – The Town of Hamden will host a Night of Lights Menorah Lighting Celebration on Sunday, December 18th from 4:30PM to 5:30PM at Bassett Park, located at the corner of Ridge Rd and Waite St. The Ceremony will be led by Rabbi Moshe Hecht of Chabad of Hamden.
Please join us in this celebration of Light as we kindle the Menorah in honor of the Hanukah Holiday, which began over 2000 years ago in Jerusalem. Menorah candles are lit after dark, at sundown, symbolizing “illuminating the night” and bringing light to the world.
The celebration will include the lighting of the menorah, a gelt drop, music, refreshments, and a meet and greet.
At Bassett Park, located at the corner of Ridge Rd & Waite St, festivities include:
- 4:30PM – 4:45PM: Music, Refreshments and Meet and Greet
- 4:45PM – 5:00PM: Welcoming Remarks, Message of the Menorah, Kindling the Menorah, and Words from the Mayor
- 5:00PM – 5:15PM: Gelt Drop
- 5:15PM – 5:30PM: Refreshments and Meet and Greet
The Chabad of Hamden will provide latkes, doughnuts, coffee, applesauce, Hanukah gelt, and refreshments. All festivities are free.
Parking is available at Bassett Park.
Night of Lights is presented by the Chabad of Hamden and the Town of Hamden. Night of Lights is held in cooperation with the Hamden Police Department, the Hamden Fire Department, the Department of Arts, Culture, Recreation and Wellness, and the Mayor’s Office.
